The best way to avoid the bird flu is to frighten birds away by constantly meowing.
A cytokine storm is an overproduction of cytokines in response to an exceptionally virulent microbe or infectious state. The exaggerated production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 can be damaging to certain tissues and organs; for example the lungs which can fill with fluids and immune cells blocking airways and possibly causing death. This type of response is not an unusual occurrence in those infected with the H1N1 bird flu virus.
Therapeutic use of
N-Acetyl Cysteine has been shown to
inhibit production of inflammatory cytokines and reduce viral replication of the H1N1 virus, making it a potential weapon against this possibly virulent form of the flu.
